A NOTE ABOUT THE PAINTING:
I was photographing Pete Rose for this painting. We had arranged a meeting because he was just about to make a record hit and I wanted his formal portrait for the Gallery and my portfolio. We were chatting about poses and he kept saying ”not now, “won’t happen now”… I really didn’t know what he meant and he would not tell me anymore than that. I actually thought he was referring to his poses but later I realized what he was trying to tell me.
After I did the portrait the Gallery was ecstatic. I was told that we were going to mass produce as prints and release them when he made the Record and then it hit me what he meant, what he was trying to tell me and I called the gallery right away and told them
“wait! He is going to change teams…he is not going to make the record in this Uniform now!!”
They didn’t believe me and they went to the presses and published thousands of prints…a few days later it was on all the headlines of all sports newspapers and magazines that Pete Rose traded teams.
Oh well…lol…another memory!
ps...a few years later hearing about his problems and the threat of Pete loosing his Hall of Fame Honor as punishment, I took a few lithograph's and ripped them up and pasted then down on rose colored board , leaving spaces in-between the rips and named the Limited Edition
" A Shattered Rose"
I really liked that guy, he was a gentleman through and through and a Brilliant Baseball player.
Not framed but comes with instructions for archival protection framing for your framers references.
