A NOTE ABOUT THE PAINTING
This was an amazing race and Belmont had the crowd waiting for a very long time to see who won . The two horses were nose to nose and hair to hair and there was only one way they could decide who won, and that was by going over the film footage and deciding who's Jockey boot was in front....
I was going through thousands of photographs at Belmont to paint this race ( when I was a Sports Artist) and after 8 hours I was very discouraged...then one young man asked me to step in the back of the room and he slipped me a photo, which was slightly a blur, yet good enough to see the head on horses and the boots.
"THIS WAS THE SHOT", I screamed...he proceeded to tell me that he took that shot and the head of the department grabbed all credits, so he hid that shot from him and the decision was made from other film footage....lol...so this is the one I used for reference but I sharpend up the horses, anatomy, background and Jockey's boots. I also brought up all the dirt from ground that was not in the shot...artist license, so to speak :-)
May this original pastel mural bring health, peace, and joyinto your home and heart.... thank you!!
